Question 1

What is Alphabiotics?

Accepted Answer

Alphabiotics is a gentle, hands-on alignment developed in the 1920s. It's intended to support balance between the brain's hemispheres and help the body release stress. In Alphabiotics, we look at how stress keeps the body in protection mode, often with one side holding more tension than the other. The full explanation, including where the name comes from, is on What Is Alphabiotics.

Question 2

Is Alphabiotics a religion?

Accepted Answer

No. Dr. Virgil Chrane, who developed Alphabiotics, described it as non-secular. By that he meant it has spiritual roots without being a religion. You don't have to believe anything to come in, and nothing in a visit asks you to. Some people are curious about the philosophy and some aren't; the visit is the same either way.

Question 3

Is there research on Alphabiotics?

Accepted Answer

There isn't large research on Alphabiotics. I'll tell you how we explain it, and you can see how it feels. If you'd like to read what's known about stress and the body, I've gathered the main findings, with sources, on Stress and Your Health.

Question 4

Is Alphabiotics safe?

Accepted Answer

The alignment is a gentle, quick movement of the head while you lie on your back, under about 15 seconds. Before anything happens, I'll show you the movement and explain it. You decide whether to go ahead. You can ask me to pause or stop at any point, and I'll check in with you before and after.

Some people should talk to their doctor first. If you've had a recent injury or surgery involving your neck or back, have a condition that affects your neck or spine, or are pregnant, check with your doctor before booking and tell me when you arrive. And if you're already working with a doctor on pain, an injury or a medical condition, keep working with them. This is one more option to explore alongside that care.

Question 5

Does it hurt?

Accepted Answer

Most people find it comfortable. The movement is over in seconds. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell me and we stop.

Question 6

Why do some Alphabiotics videos online look rough?

Accepted Answer

Short clips are often sped up, filmed from an odd angle or cut right at the moment of the movement, so it can look abrupt on a phone screen. In person, the movement is gentle and quick. On your first visit I'll show you exactly what I'm going to do before I do it.

Question 7

How long is a visit?

Accepted Answer

Plan on about 30 minutes for your first visit. That covers a short conversation, a check of your legs, hips, arms and neck, the alignment, and a second check so you can see the difference too. A second visit takes about 20 minutes, and returning visits about 10. Step by step, it's all on Your First Visit.

Question 8

How often do people come?

Accepted Answer

I suggest three visits in your first week: visit 1 to feel what balance is like, visit 2 within 48 hours, while you're still in balance (the first alignment tends to hold for about 72 to 76 hours), and visit 3 to see what lasts between visits. After that, we'll talk about a rhythm that fits your life and your budget. It's a suggestion, and you're free to come once and decide from there.

Question 9

What does Alphabiotics cost?

Accepted Answer

A first visit is $60 cash, or $62.10 by card. The intro packs are $100 cash ($103.30 by card) for your first two visits and $120 cash ($123.89 by card) for your first three. After that there are single returning visits, 5- and 10-alignment packs, and memberships of 4, 8 or 12 visits a month. Nothing is due when you book; you pay in person or online after your visit. Current prices are always on the Pricing page.

Question 10

Is it covered by insurance?

Accepted Answer

Alphabiotics isn't medical care, so health insurance usually doesn't cover it. If you have an HSA or FSA, ask your plan administrator what it allows before you count on it. You don't need a referral to book.

Question 11

What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Whatever you're comfortable lying down in. You stay fully clothed the whole time.

Question 12

Can I keep seeing my chiropractor, massage therapist or physical therapist?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Chiropractic works with the spine. Alphabiotics focuses on stress and how your body carries it. Plenty of people do both. The same goes for massage, physical therapy and the care you get from your doctor. Alphabiotics doesn't replace any of it, and I'd never ask you to choose.

Question 13

What do people say they feel afterward?

Accepted Answer

Many describe feeling calmer, lighter or more at ease. Many people say it's the first time in a while they remember what not bracing feels like. Individual experiences vary. Some notice a change right away, and some notice more over the next day or two. Whichever it is for you, there's no right or wrong way to feel. Just notice how you feel.

Question 14

Can I ask a question before I book?

Accepted Answer

Yes, please do. Call me at (858) 354-8153 or email vince@brainrebootsd.com. If you're not sure whether Alphabiotics is for you, a five-minute conversation is a good place to start, and there's no obligation to book.

If your question isn't on this page, ask me and I may add it here. When you're ready to try it, come once and see how you feel.
